Chapter 51 House Viewing
Chapter 51 House Viewing
The next morning, Yuta Shirakawa left the house after placing the sheet music for "Love Circulation" on the table.
He didn't have much to do today, so he made an appointment with Masahiro Kojima to look at houses in the area. Although he didn't plan to rent any right away, it wouldn't hurt to take a look first.
Get a feel for the market and see if there are any good apartments available, so you'll have something to consider when you're looking to rent.
When Shirakawa Yuta arrived at the agreed location, he saw that Kojima Masahiro was already waiting there.
Yuta Shirakawa quickly stepped forward and greeted the other person:
"Good morning, Kojima-san."
Masahiro Kojima bowed slightly and replied, "Good morning, Shirakawa-san."
Seeing the other party's formal treatment instantly calmed Shirakawa Yuta down a bit.
It's not that he's vain or enjoys others bowing to him.
He only felt the respect the other party showed him and their professional attitude after seeing that the other party did not show any apathy because they knew him and that he was a student.
After Shirakawa Yuta stopped, Kojima Masahiro took out a stack of documents from behind him and handed them to him.
"This is a house prepared in advance according to your requirements. It can be a two-bedroom or a detached house. It is not too far from Mingde Private School, about a 20-minute walk."
Yuta Shirakawa picked up the stack of documents and looked through them for a while. He frowned and asked in confusion, "Why are all these old neighborhoods?"
Masahiro Kojima shrugged, pointing to one of the dishes inside as he explained:
"Older neighborhoods are cheaper. Look at this one, it's only a 17-minute walk from the school, and it faces south with a balcony. It's only 7 yen a month. Compared to those newly built apartments, it's almost half the price. You and your sister are both students, so it seems like a great deal."
Yuta Shirakawa scratched his head, seemingly agreeing with what he said. He glanced down twice more before looking up again.
"A wooden structure?"
"It's safe. Tokyo gets a lot of earthquakes, you know that."
"No elevator, eighth floor?"
"Well, it's good for physical fitness. We're all students, so climbing stairs is very beneficial."
Yuta Shirakawa watched as the other person remained silent, silently raising doubts in his mind. Why did the other person seem so unreliable?
Kojima Masahiro felt a little uncomfortable under Shirakawa Yuta's gaze. He awkwardly touched his nose, then took back the top copy Shirakawa Yuta had just been looking at and honestly said:
"This is my house, it fits your requirements perfectly, I just wanted to see if you'd like to rent it. But I can assure you I'm not ripping you off, this price is definitely the cheapest you'll find."
Yuta Shirakawa was initially a little skeptical, but after seeing the prices below, which were mostly around 100,000 yen, his initial dissatisfaction dissipated considerably.
Although the one at the top was a bit selfish, at least it didn't really harm itself.
After reviewing all the information, Shirakawa Yuta quickly selected four houses, three of which were two-bedroom apartments. Some were in renovated neighborhoods, while others were in new neighborhoods, and the prices ranged from 9.5 to 12 yen.
The remaining house is a detached house, which is also Yuta Shirakawa's favorite house. Unlike the old neighborhoods where it is squeezed into a cluster of buildings, it occupies a small piece of land on its own, located at the intersection of two quiet alleys, which looks very pleasant.
Moreover, it has an extra room compared to a two-bedroom apartment, which can be used as his art studio. He won't have to stay in the bedroom to paint every day, which will greatly improve his efficiency.
Because if there is a bed next to you, it is easy to become lazy and want to sleep. In the past, when Shirakawa Yuta was drawing, he would often run to the bed to lie down for a while in the middle of drawing.
However, it is also the most expensive, costing nearly 150,000 yen per month, which makes Shirakawa Yuta hesitate.
The three two-bedroom apartments in front of them were closer, and two of them were even in the same residential complex.
So, led by Masahiro Kojima, we first visited these three places.
The environment is actually quite good, especially the one in the newly built community that costs 115,000 yuan. It has a balcony, an elevator, a private bathroom, and is close to the school.
However, Shirakawa Yuta always felt somewhat dissatisfied, not for any other reason than the fact that he had his eye on that detached house and it was no exception, but because of the ceiling height.
In his previous life, the standard floor height of residential buildings in China was generally around 2.8 to 2.9 meters. After transmigrating to this world, he first lived in his own self-built house on Izu Oshima. Because Shirakawa Yuta's father was also very tall, he specially increased the floor height to be similar to that in his previous life.
When he arrived in Tokyo, he also lived in a detached house belonging to Daio Chiba. Although it was a bit lower than in his previous life, it was still about 2.6 to 2.7 meters tall.
But the two-bedroom apartments he had just visited were mostly only about 2.5 meters tall, and one was even only 2.4 meters tall, which was really too short for his 1.8-meter height.
The most immediate feeling he got from living in that kind of house was that even breathing felt somewhat suffocating.
After leaving the last house, Masahiro Kojima looked at Yuta Shirakawa, whose brows were still furrowed, and asked:
"Not satisfied with any of that?"
Yuta Shirakawa nodded, not hiding anything: "The main problem is that the ceiling height is a bit unsuitable; these are all too low."
After looking up at the other person, Masahiro Kojima could only laugh helplessly and say, "It's not that the ceiling is too low, it's that you're too tall."
Indeed, in a region where the average height is around 1.7 meters, it's quite unusual for someone like Yuta Shirakawa, who is already 1.81 meters tall even before he's out of puberty, to be so tall. It's really a bit out of touch with the social infrastructure.
Yuta Shirakawa shrugged helplessly. "Is it my fault that I'm so tall?"
If the problem is with the price, utilities, or property management fees, Masahiro Kojima can find a solution. But things like ceiling height are beyond his control.
Therefore, Masahiro Kojima said, "In that case, we can only go and look at detached houses. Detached houses have higher ceilings, which should satisfy you."
The two walked side by side toward the Nishihachi-oji station.
Fortunately, the distance wasn't too far. After walking for less than twenty minutes, Masahiro Kojima and Yuta Shirakawa stopped in front of an inconspicuous two-story detached house.
The house is in a Japanese minimalist style, with a light brown solid wood structure, paired with off-white window frames and light gray tiles, making it look clean and elegant.
There is also a small courtyard at the entrance. It is not big, but it is very exquisite. A low wooden fence surrounds the edge of the courtyard, and several green vines are climbing on it, adding a lot of vitality to the whole building.
Pushing open the wooden door, you'll find a built-in shoe cabinet on one side of the entryway and wooden hooks on the other wall. Both are small but very practical.
Stepping inside, the first floor features an open layout, with the living room, dining room, and kitchen all connected without partitions, making it feel very spacious.
There are three rooms upstairs. Although one of them is smaller, it is just right to be used as an art studio or study.
What pleased Shirakawa Yuta the most was the ceiling height, which had finally returned to a normal range, so he no longer felt suffocated.
