Chapter 37 The outside is full of my people
It was clear that the Viscount was very angry; he didn't even show his face at dinner, only arranging for a few servants to entertain Leon and Charlotte.
After dinner, Leon and Charlotte returned to their respective rooms. He looked for her once, but Charlotte was not in her room.
She didn't return until a while later.
"Where did you go?"
"Take a walk. And while you're at it, observe whether the viscount is following my instructions."
Charlotte had asked the Viscount to order all the servants to stay in their rooms and not wander around, and after dinner, all the servants did indeed obey the Viscount's order.
The entire mansion was deserted at this moment; apart from Li Ang and Charlotte, there wasn't a soul in sight.
Oh! There's also an old butler, but considering the viscount's great trust in him, neither of them forcibly restricted the other's movements.
Moreover, Li Ang had previously used his abilities to probe the other party.
He appears to be just an ordinary person, without any label of being a helper.
"What about that viscount?"
"He stays in his room. But I saw a few maids go to his room, probably to do something unspeakable." As she said this, Charlotte's face showed just the right amount of disgust.
"Shall we go to the collection room now?" Li Ang asked.
"No need. We can go there at nine o'clock."
The time on the other party's criminal declaration was 10 o'clock, so Charlotte wasn't in a hurry to run to the collection room to wait.
She had considered the possibility that the other party might have acted in advance, but that would have meant falling right into the trap she had set up.
It can only be said that no matter when the other party chooses to make a move, she has a way to deal with it.
Of course, she didn't tell Li Ang any of these things.
After all, someone had deceived him.
Li Ang returned to his room and stayed there until night fell as expected.
The storage room was unlit, illuminated only by the faint moonlight streaming in through the window.
The once magnificent collections, gleaming in the daytime, were now shrouded in shadow, their outlines now blurred.
Charlotte and Leon crouched in the corner, quietly waiting for the other to announce the ten o'clock mark in the criminal declaration.
"They're here."
Charlotte said softly, clearly having heard something.
Li Ang pricked up his ears and listened intently before noticing a leisurely footstep coming from the corridor.
The footsteps stopped outside the collection room.
With a "click," as if everything had been destroyed, the door was pushed open.
Li Ang frowned as he watched this scene from the shadows.
They had the old butler lock the door to the collection room beforehand, but now it had been forcibly broken open, which was a bit too outrageous.
A figure walked in from outside the door. By the moonlight, Li Ang recognized the person as Helena, whom he had seen during the day.
She changed her clothes; instead of the maid uniform she wore during the day, she wore a more practical, close-fitting black uniform, somewhat like a night-clothes outfit.
When Li Ang saw the other person dressed in black, he subconsciously thought of those cult members.
Wearing a black robe in broad daylight, as if eager to tell others that he is abnormal.
However, for now, he was still focusing his attention on Helena.
The way the other party violently broke into the door was indeed beyond his expectations. He had originally thought that the other party would have entered by climbing through a window or picking the lock.
After what happened during the day, the other side must know that their tunnel has been exposed, and they would never use that method again.
Helena's gaze swept around the room before she walked straight to the corner where the witch's prop that Li Ang had seen earlier was placed.
So he and Charlotte jumped out from the corner.
"Surrender!"
"Good evening." Helena wasn't too surprised to see the two suddenly appear. Instead, she greeted them casually, "Miss Holmes, Mr. Moriarty."
Charlotte walked up to her, about five steps apart.
"Have the Witch's Guild members learned to steal now?"
For some reason, Charlotte knew at first glance that the other person was a member of the Witch's Guild.
Helena retorted sarcastically, "When did the famous detective become a bodyguard? And he's even on night watch."
"As long as we catch the criminals, what we do doesn't matter," Charlotte said with a forced smile.
"Stop it." Li Ang walked over and stood next to Charlotte, his black sword hanging at his side, the tip pointing to the ground. "The people outside are all my men."
Helena glanced at him. "All the guards have been arrested and imprisoned. You didn't even notify the armed detectives. Where did they come from?"
"...Just kidding."
Helena gritted her teeth as she watched the man who dared to flirt with her even in this atmosphere.
When the man saw her appear, he showed no surprise, as if he had known she would come all along.
She had sensed something was off while they were in the garden, and now it seemed that this guy was indeed testing her.
"Where is the Heart of the Ocean?" Charlotte asked from the side.
"Here you go." Helena took the priceless sapphire out of her pocket and casually tossed it to Charlotte.
"What do you mean?" Li Ang was puzzled when he saw that the other party returned the sapphire to them so easily.
Charlotte, on the other hand, after catching the gem steadily, gradually deepened her gaze. "It seems you haven't found what you're looking for."
"I thought that thing that fat pig was bragging about was some rare material. It turns out it's useless except for looking nice."
"So you're now ready to surrender?" Li Ang asked uncertainly.
"Of course not," Helena chuckled. "Although I have no interest in such flashy things, I did have an unexpected bonus."
"You mean this is the unexpected gain you were talking about?" Li Ang walked to the corner and picked up the pendant from the counter.
"Tsk!" Helena's smile vanished instantly. "I didn't expect you to find out. Do you perhaps possess some kind of ability to detect objects?"
It must be said that Helena's guess was extremely accurate, basically guessing the truth of the matter with a high degree of certainty.
"Fine. Since that's the case, let's just take it directly."
No sooner had Helena finished speaking than Li Ang took a step forward and made the first move!
The black blade slashed horizontally, its edge cutting through the air with a sharp tiger's roar. Helena's reaction was to lean back, her slender waist almost bent at a right angle.
Li Ang's black knife grazed just above the tip of her nose, leaving only a gust of wind.
Then Helena's body bounced back like a spring, and her right leg swept across, heading straight for Li Ang's waist.
He didn't have time to sheathe his knife, so he could only use his forearm to block.
