Chapter 1031: No Longer Connected
Chapter 1031: No Longer Connected
"It’s just that I never thought I’d have a daughter." Jerry Taylor mentioned the absurdity of swapping children later on, feeling truly helpless.Originally, after having a child, he wanted to live well with Chaya Davis, but since the child was born, Chaya completely cut ties with him.
In her eyes, he was just an apparent husband and an ATM.
Such a life initially gave him a moment of disappointment, but thinking about it as a way to disguise his identity, he actually felt it was quite good.
At least he wouldn’t harm some good family’s girl.
"Brother, don’t dwell on it." Clarissa Taylor smiled and said, "Sophie is also your daughter. Besides, you’re so handsome and charming; finding another partner later on and living well together is great too."
"At my age, only you still find me handsome." Jerry Taylor was amused by Clarissa.
"My brother is always the most handsome; Mason can’t compare." Clarissa huffed; in front of her brother, she seemed to revert to her childhood, being playful with him.
The siblings talked all day, and Clarissa was certainly delighted.
Now that her brother didn’t need to run around frequently, she could meet him more often.
Jerry Taylor’s identity was restored, and his life went on as before, still serene and detached, like a recluse distant from the world.
But in prison, Chaya Davis and Ophelia Wilson lived as if in purgatory, suffering every minute and every second.
"Mom, why hasn’t Dad replied yet?" Ophelia Wilson asked anxiously.
"Soon, soon." Chaya Davis said, "Your dad will definitely get us out."
"Will Dad really?" Ophelia hoped deep down but wasn’t as optimistic as Chaya.
When Jerry Taylor came to see her, he spoke so firmly that she was really uncertain.
The guard walked in with a stack of letters, calling out names one by one.
Upon hearing her number, Chaya darted over swiftly, tore open the letter, ripping the envelope messily, and unfolded the letter with Ophelia excitedly looking over it together.
There were only four words — No more relation.
"Mom, what does Dad mean by this?" No matter how uneasy she felt, Ophelia wanted to grasp at this last straw; she simply could not accept it.
"No way, it can’t be! I’m going to find him; I’m going to find him!" Chaya couldn’t accept this reality either, and crazily dashed out, shouting, "I am the engineer’s wife!"
The ultimate result, of course, was being put in solitary confinement.
Apart from those shocked by the implications of Jerry’s identity, everyone else’s lives continued as usual.
"Mom, Grandma, we have to get up early tomorrow. After finishing the check-up at the hospital, we’ll have breakfast." Lucy Wells advised, worried that her mom and grandma might forget, "Tomorrow morning, please don’t eat anything first, otherwise many items can’t be checked."
"Got it." Emma Wells chuckled and said, "I’ll keep an eye on your grandma."
"I’m not senile." Old Mrs. Wells was displeased upon hearing that; why keep an eye on her?
"Yes, yes, my grandma isn’t senile at all. I’m reminding my mom; Grandma, you have to supervise Mom." Lucy laughed, cajoling her grandma.
"Alright, I’ll keep an eye on your mom." Old Mrs. Wells replied childishly, causing Emma Wells and Lucy to burst into laughter.
