Chapter 1323 - 1318: Should I Tell Her the Truth?
Hannah Hargrave was helped out by Xiao Mei and Aunt Wang, and Sophie Foster also lifted the thin blanket. Both of them were wearing suspenders, all of it just for show for Hannah Hargrave, just to drive her crazy.
"Are you satisfied with the result?" Nicholas Croft asked, his handsome face showing no emotion.
Sophie Foster paused before getting up, looked at him coldly, and retorted without warmth, "What? Do you feel sorry for her now?"
Nicholas Croft...
He didn’t feel sorry, just thought that this was somewhat... cruel. Although Hannah Hargrave’s actions were indeed vile, setting a dog on someone seemed like something that only heinous villains from the old times would do.
Now is a society governed by the rule of law, and the law should punish wrongdoers, not someone taking matters into their own hands.
Nicholas Croft’s lack of response was seen as recognition by Sophie Foster. She arrogantly lifted her chin, and before leaving, Sophie Foster said, "Nicholas Croft, whether you feel sorry or regret it, from now on, I won’t let that bitch have it easy!"
Sophie Foster got up from the bed, sat on the hanging chair, gently swaying while facing the window. She was only wearing a set of underwear, and against the light, her slim figure appeared desolate. Nicholas Croft pursed his lips, got up, picked up the trousers from the floor, put them on, then took a thin blanket and walked over.
"Get lost!" Before the blanket could be draped over Sophie Foster’s shoulders, an icy voice without warmth sounded. Sophie Foster held onto the rattan, her slightly raised face just as cold.
Panda Eyes watched as Hannah Hargrave was taken away by the emergency vehicle, then ran back to the bedroom, stood in front of Sophie Foster, and barked a few times. Sophie Foster slowly reached out, and Panda Eyes leaped into her arms.
In the hanging chair, the woman and the dog snuggled together, gently swaying on the swing. It was a very beautiful scene, but Nicholas Croft sighed heavily with closed eyes and silently walked out.
Hannah Hargrave was admitted to the hospital, getting five stitches on the back of her head with several injuries on her arms and legs.
Josephine Hawthorne rushed over in a panic. Seeing her daughter injured in this way, she kept clamoring to sue the other party to ruin.
In the afternoon, Nicholas Croft went back to the company to get Henry Hargrave’s hair, and sent it together with Sophie Foster’s to Evander Lancaster’s hospital.
Looking at the items in the two sealed bags, Evander Lancaster joked at the time, "Big brother, what’s this drama now?"
"Don’t ask. I want to know the results as soon as possible."
Nicholas Croft sat down in the chair opposite Evander Lancaster’s desk, rubbing his handsome face which looked a little tired.
"Alright." Evander Lancaster stood up with the two sealed bags, "I’ll send them to the lab now and have them work an extra night shift, but the soonest it will be ready is six hours."
"Tomorrow then," Nicholas Croft sighed, stood up again, "Don’t mention this to Nathan or Felix, and let me know the results directly."
Watching Nicholas Croft’s back as he left the office, Evander Lancaster looked at the two small bags in his hand again, frowned, thought for a moment, then followed him out of the office.
By the next afternoon, Nicholas Croft received a call from Evander Lancaster. The two strands of hair did not belong to blood relatives. After ending the call, Nicholas Croft leaned back in his high-back chair and fell into deep thought.
Sophie Foster is not Henry Hargrave’s daughter, so it seems Hannah Hargrave wasn’t lying that night.
Only Hannah Hargrave and her mother knew about this; now he was one of those in the know. But...
Should he tell Sophie Foster this truth, or... pretend nothing has happened and keep it a secret?
