Chapter 78. Jealousy?
Chapter 78. Jealousy?
"Hoshino-kun, can you teach me this math problem?"
The sound of a chair being moved startled Xun, who turned to look at the source of the sound.
Chio Kobayashi appeared before him at some unknown time.
The other person had no intention of waiting for his reply, and moved a chair over to sit next to him, squeezing him into the space inside.
"Why don't we just ask the teacher for help with this?"
Kaoru, who was squeezed so tightly she was almost pressed against the wall, muttered something.
This guy, I never ask him for help with math problems normally, what's wrong with him today...?
"No, I don't want to trouble the teacher, so I'd like to trouble you instead."
Kobayashi used his body to block the young lady's gaze from lingering on Kaoru, and with a gesture that seemed to be deliberately showing off, he pressed their shoulders together. Then he turned around and looked defiantly at the young lady who was watching them.
"How boring."
A sneer came from the water, and the person began to ignore the two and do their homework.
"What questions are still unanswered?"
Kaoru quickly solved the math problem Kobayashi asked, and seeing her "I understand" expression, Kaoru, who was acting as her tutor, never took her eyes off her face.
"This one, and this one, um... I don't know how to do this last one either."
Xiaolin looked serious as his fingertips traced over problems related to trigonometric functions, algebra, and geometry.
Kaoru tapped her forehead with her pen, adopting the same serious expression as Ms. Shoko.
"What were you doing in class? You can't even do such a simple problem."
"Don't worry about me... just teach me."
Xiaolin covered her forehead, her face slightly red.
Of course, she wouldn't say things like "I've been secretly watching Hoshino-kun" outright.
I taught Xiaolin the math problems she couldn't solve, and there were still ten minutes before class started.
Lunch break was over just like that, and Xun wasn't going to let the guy who wasted an hour of his time leave so easily.
"I helped you, wouldn't it be too heartless to just leave like this?"
"Then... what do you want...?"
Feeling the chair was a bit heavy and his right hand was a little sore, Xiaolin adjusted the chair and sat down.
Xun suddenly brought her face closer, observing the reaction on her face.
"Hmm... you've changed a lot, I almost didn't recognize you."
"What...what are you doing...this is a classroom..."
Thinking he might do something frivolous to her, Kobayashi was incredibly nervous, but she had absolutely no intention of resisting.
She was prepared to be treated "specially".
Even in the classroom... if Hoshino-san wants to do that... then it's fine...
She didn't know why she thought that way. She saw Kaoru reach out her right hand towards her face... brushing aside the hair covering her ears, but her body didn't even react with any resistance, as if she had become a toy to be manipulated.
She feels incredibly strange right now...
"Yes, the earrings are gone, and the permed hair has been restored."
Kaoru pulled his forward-leaning upper body back. He was quite satisfied with Kobayashi now. Even though they had known each other for several years... this was the first time he found the guy in front of him so pleasing to the eye.
Short hair is cute too!
"Since there's nothing else... I'll head back now."
Xiaolin looked up at him, then carried her chair back to her seat.
On the way back, she deliberately bumped her chair into the young lady's desk and snorted provocatively.
Faced with her declaration of war, Mizukami remained silent, turning the pages of his notebook, which was already torn apart by the tip of a ballpoint pen.
After the afternoon classes ended, Kaoru went to Ms. Shoko's office and knocked on the door.
"This is the application form for joining the brass band club. I've already filled it out for you. You can just register your information and become a member of the brass band club."
Knowing his purpose, Ms. Shoko put down her coffee and handed him the form.
"Thank you, Ms. Shoko!"
Xun bowed politely to her and then left the office.
The young lady had been waiting for a long time outside the office door.
On the way to the brass band club, the other person suddenly asked a question.
Why did Hoshino-kun suddenly become interested in musical instruments?
"Well... because I want to become an idol!"
Mizukami frowned, knowing he wasn't lying, and wondered if he'd lost his mind.
"Really? You're really boring."
"By the way, besides the piano, what else can you play?"
Kaoru saw a grand piano in one of the young lady's rooms, along with some other musical instruments.
However, the helicopter captain who was leading the way was walking very fast, and he didn't see clearly at all.
"I can play all the instruments that Hoshino-kun has ever seen, including bowed string instruments, brass instruments, and woodwind instruments."
"What? You know all of that? How long would it take you to learn?"
"I started learning various musical instruments when I was in kindergarten. I didn't have any friends, and I had a music teacher tutor me every day after school. This lasted for about five years."
"Five years...that's terrifying."
We arrived at the entrance to the activity room of the wind band.
The sound of an oboe, like the quacking of a duck, came from inside. Mizukami frowned, suppressing his urge to turn around and leave.
"It sounds awful."
Even someone as patient as her began to speak her mind.
At that moment, a girl wearing large-framed glasses heard her words and quietly walked into the activity room.
After a while, several members of the wind band came out.
"Did you say my oboe playing was bad?"
The girl holding the black oboe was clearly furious. She walked straight up to the young lady, looking as if she was about to grab her by the collar and interrogate her.
"Yes."
"This level of performance can no longer be called music; it would be more accurate to describe it as 'noise.'"
The young lady's cold gaze swept across the girl with large-framed glasses, and she immediately realized that she was the one who had snitched.
"That sounds nice, but you're just jealous."
"What's so enviable about someone who can play the oboe like a male duck in heat?"
The girl was completely enraged by the girl's calm demeanor on the water.
She handed her the oboe, clearly not willing to give up easily.
"Then prove it to me, see how well you can play the trumpet."
"No, I won't touch anything that someone else has touched on their mouth, it's so dirty."
Upon hearing this, the girl could no longer bear it and reached out with both hands to grab the collar of her clothes above the water, lifting her body up a few centimeters.
Upon seeing this, the girl who had tattled immediately stepped forward and pretended to dissuade them.
A fight is about to break out!
Soon, the entrance to the activity room was crowded with members of the wind band who wanted to watch the excitement.
"Do you play any other musical instruments?"
Even with her collar grabbed and surrounded by people, Mizusami remained remarkably calm, her pale purple eyes devoid of any emotion.
"He also plays the piano."
"Really? Perfect."
Despite being shorter, Mizusho was looking at the girl with a condescending gaze, as if she were a criminal being scrutinized.
"Let's prove it with the piano then, I'm really bored."
