Chapter 2381 - 2445: I’ll Help You
Chapter 2381 - 2445: I’ll Help You
"Two venerable ones, may I ask what should we do now? Are we just going to stand by and watch, or should we charge in and try to cut down that Drought Demon?" Li Yifei turned and asked.Yao Lingfu and Master Shuiyue seemed to be in a dilemma too. After pondering for a moment, Yao Lingfu said, "I’ll contact Murong first and ask for his opinion. This matter is too important; if that Drought Demon escapes, it will be a disaster for the Southern Sky!"
Li Yifei nodded to show his understanding. If the Drought Demon were to escape, it wouldn’t leave behind devastation for miles. However, with the population density of Southern Sky Province, if it were to reach a city, it would cause extreme panic and slaughter. Not to mention, it’s like a virus that turns people into zombies. Once the black Evil qi enters the body, it would cause extreme destruction instantly.
While Yao Lingfu was contacting Murong Yuanqing, Li Yifei crouched down and looked at the Flood Dragon Ao Bai, saying, "What do you intend to do?"
"The trouble I stirred up must be dealt with! I am a Flood Dragon aspiring to become a true dragon." Flood Dragon Ao Bai said, tapping its little claw.
Li Yifei nodded and said, "Alright, I can help you because of your words!"
Flood Dragon Ao Bai snorted, saying, "Thank you, I’ll remember this. I’ll repay you when conditions permit in the future!"
Li Yifei smiled and nodded, saying, "Mm!" In his heart, he thought, regardless of what you do, I must take charge of this matter. As they say, with great power comes great responsibility. Otherwise, why am I working so hard today?
After Yao Lingfu finished the call, she returned with a grave expression and said, "Murong brought a treasure to slightly restrain the Evil qi. He is contacting others now. If there really is a Drought Demon below, we must join forces!"
"Is the Drought Demon so formidable?" Li Yifei asked.
Yao Lingfu nodded and said, "Hopefully, it’s weaker. It’s been a long time since such a monster appeared, and even our generation doesn’t know exactly how powerful it is, so you see!"
"Otherwise, I should go take a look first!" Li Yifei said, feeling uneasy.
"Very well, Murong will arrive in an hour. It’s good for you to scout first, but be careful. Together, we’ll make that Drought Demon bow!"
"Okay!" Li Yifei nodded immediately, grasped his blade, and said to Flood Dragon Ao Bai, "You should come with me. It’s best to carry me in the water; otherwise, it’d be troublesome if those crazed fish catch up."
Flood Dragon Ao Bai nodded and said, "Alright, let’s go!"
One human and one Flood Dragon immediately jumped into the water. As soon as they entered, the Flood Dragon began to swim vigorously forward. The crazed fish instantly charged upon entering the water, but the Flood Dragon was fast enough to evade them.
In less than a minute, they reached the coral reef. In the seawater, black qi rose, pushing the water away, creating a vacuum area around the reef with no seawater. With the Flood Dragon’s propulsion, Li Yifei rushed inside instantly.
The immense spirit columns he saw earlier were now nearly all broken and scattered everywhere. Beneath the massive metal device, several large chasms had cracked open, and the black qi continuously poured out from the crevices.
"Hold your breath!" the Flood Dragon reminded. Li Yifei immediately ceased breathing while summoning his True Qi to form an armor layer around him and rushed in with the Flood Dragon’s help.
Li Yifei felt a fishy wind rush towards him, burning Yin Qi and the True Qi Armor surrounding his body, emitting sizzling sounds. In just seconds, Li Yifei stopped, as the Flood Dragon had halted.
Opening his eyes, Li Yifei saw that the surroundings were incredibly dark. Despite his vision, he still found it indistinct. However, he knew that this was a path extending downwards, with a gentle but lengthy slope.
The Flood Dragon walked ahead, saying, "That thing is inside. Be cautious of hidden weapons coming from the sides and numerous venomous insects, though these aren’t the most dangerous!"
"What is the most dangerous thing?" Li Yifei asked.
"Of course, it’s the one inside. That’s the most dangerous one!" the Flood Dragon replied.
Of course, Li Yifei grasped the Mohist War Blade, his True Qi circulating within him. With the Flood Dragon’s warning, he cautiously summoned a layer of True Qi Armor to guard against hidden weapons and such. After all, the light was too dim here, restricting his vision.
Fortunately, his hearing wasn’t impaired, and his might was released, greatly enhancing his perceptive abilities. Thus... Seconds later, Li Yifei almost stumbled and fell but steadied himself, looking at the Flood Dragon indignantly and whispering, "Why didn’t you warn me?"
"Are you kidding? Why should I warn you?" the Flood Dragon said, rolling its eyes.
Li Yifei was about to retort when suddenly, he sensed a chilling breath rushing towards him — an incredibly perilous breath. Upon feeling it, Li Yifei’s heart began pounding faster and faster.
Li Yifei immediately fell silent. He even sensed a fishy wind blowing towards them. Locked within was something described in the "Classic of Mountains and Seas," which Li Yifei used to regard as mythological stories during his school days. However, now there was indeed a Drought Demon beneath, indicating that what was written in the "Classic of Mountains and Seas" likely existed for real — especially since he had already encountered the Flood Dragon.
"If I had transformed into a Flood Dragon a hundred years earlier, I would be fully confident in facing this Drought Demon now!" the Flood Dragon thought to itself.
Li Yifei didn’t respond. After this foul wind, Li Yifei felt the True Qi Armor on the surface of his body rapidly dissolving, completely eroded by this gust of wind.
It’s truly powerful! Li Yifei pondered silently, continuing forward. Having not yet seen the Drought Demon, Li Yifei couldn’t just give up. Running away without even meeting the opponent wasn’t his style. The path ahead grew increasingly cold, with a denser sense of evil. Suddenly, the view opened up. The Flood Dragon stopped, and Li Yifei had to stop too. He heard the sound of rushing water and, looking down, saw an underground river appearing tens of meters below. Above was a suspension bridge of unknown age, its chains rusted over.
"Have you crossed this before?" Li Yifei asked.
The Flood Dragon replied, "No, I flew over!"
"You can fly?"
"I flew during the Heavenly Tribulation day!"
But I can’t fly, Li Yifei reached out to grab the chain, pulling it slightly with just a little force, causing the entire suspension bridge to sway and tremble. The planks had long since rotted, making Li Yifei worried. Yet the Flood Dragon, with a flick of its tail, really flew through the air, twisting its body as it swiftly flew over the bridge.
Looking at the suspension bridge, about thirty to forty meters wide, Li Yifei pondered a bit before deciding to cross. On the other side was a spacious area, with a light source about five to six hundred meters away that seemed like firelight. Shadows flitted about above it, though it was unclear what they were. But since the Flood Dragon had charged ahead, Li Yifei didn’t spend too long observing.
Walking along the chain, crossing the bridge, Li Yifei breathed a sigh of relief upon landing. The chain had indeed become quite fragile, but fortunately, he was nimble. After a couple of chains snapped, he managed to step onto the ground on the other side.
"That guy is where the light is, but... this place is full of tombs, with soul pillars and bones. You must be very careful!" The Flood Dragon turned to tell him.
Li Yifei nodded. The bones of the dead emitted phosphorescent fires, which would glow faintly with any slight disturbance, appearing quite frightful, especially in such an underground space.
Gripping the Mohist War Blade, Li Yifei moved forward slowly. The Flood Dragon’s ability to sense was clearly superior to his, so with it leading the way, Li Yifei felt at ease.
The closer they got, the more terrifying the aura he could sense. And when Li Yifei was just two hundred meters away, he suddenly heard a series of roars, a sound that echoed through the heavens and earth, incredibly intimidating.
This was like the sound of drums. Hearing it at such a close distance, it was thanks to Li Yifei and the Flood Dragon’s resilience; a normal person might have fainted on the spot, or at the very least, bled from their seven orifices and suffered hearing damage, as this sound could resonate with the human body.
Feeling his internal organs subtly vibrating, Li Yifei said, "It’s actually infrasound waves. No wonder the body feels so uncomfortable."
The Flood Dragon turned and glared at him, saying, "Stop talking. We’ll sneak over and attack while it’s unawares. If we can finish it off quickly, all the better!"
"Are you sure we can finish it off quickly?"
"How will we know if we don’t try?"
Li Yifei hesitated for a moment and said, "If you have some confidence, we can certainly try!"
"Confidence my foot. I want revenge. It dared to harm me earlier, and now that I’m back, I must pay it back. Besides, you have a decent weapon with quite the destructive power!" the Flood Dragon said fiercely.
Li Yifei felt something was off but couldn’t pinpoint what. Seeing the Flood Dragon raring to go, Li Yifei said, "Alright, but you need to inform me of your attack method so I can coordinate with you!"
"Me? My attacks, aside from lightning, are mainly biting!" the Flood Dragon said.
"Is that it?"
"There are others, but they are ineffective against the Drought Demon. Previously, I would bite, and soon I’ll strike it with lightning. If it gets paralyzed, you should chop at it with your blade. Get in as many strikes as you can!" the Flood Dragon said.
Li Yifei nodded, saying, "Alright, that’s the plan then!"
The two continued to move forward stealthily. In this space, there seemed to be no other living creatures, or at least none were alive. Li Yifei kept his aura within a fifty-meter range, and within his sensing range, there were nothing but corpses, some reduced to ashes, others just piles of bones. Over the years, who knows how many people or creatures had perished here.
"These were all used to feed the Drought Demon!" the Flood Dragon suddenly stopped, biting its teeth and said. Li Yifei nodded. He had already guessed as much, which further proved the evil nature of those who once occupied this place, not hesitating to sacrifice lives to feed an evil creature.
