Chapter 714 - 701: Redeeming the Hostage (Part 2)
Spring Xiu and his group have been waiting here for Liu Fugui for over two hours now, during which time Liu Yunpeng has been held in the innermost room, a storage room.
Not to mention his anxiety, fear, and bewilderment about his future fate, the near-zero temperature in the room alone has tortured this young master to the brink of wishing he were dead.
Just then, voices suddenly emerged from outside, reviving the nearly breathless Liu Yunpeng, who felt a familiar echo in his groggy mind.
After carefully listening to a segment of conversation outside, he confirmed that the visitor was indeed his father.
At this moment, Liu Yunpeng, curled up in a ball, resembles Seiya each time he is beaten nearly to death and then revives in full glory upon hearing Athena’s call.
The sound of his father’s voice has never felt so warm and comforting to him as it does now; his father is here to rescue him. Liu Yunpeng knows he must do something to let Liu Fugui know he is here.
Opportunities are fleeting. If Liu Fugui leaves, one can only imagine what fate awaits him.
Screaming, shouting is the only method he can think of to get outside attention at the moment. Sadly, as soon as he wants to make a sound, he realizes his mouth is stuffed with a towel, rendering him unable to make a sound. He can only twist fruitlessly on the ground and emit faint hums.
"Yunpeng!" Seeing his son gagged and blindfolded, Liu Fugui’s heart wrenched with pain; he had never let his son suffer such hardship or endure such an ordeal.
At this moment, he didn’t care about anything else. As a father’s duty drove him, he charged forward. The guards originally planning to block his advance were forcibly pushed back by Liu Fugui’s overwhelming aura.
"You..." The guard, who reacted, somewhat cowardly tried to voice a stop to the already unblinding Liu Yunpeng, but was stared back mid-word by the latter’s furious eyes.
The terrified guard shut his mouth, standing dumbfounded in place, not daring to move an inch.
In that moment of being stared at, the guard seemed to feel himself in a pool of stagnant water, trapped in the center, thankfully it was all an illusion, but even a mirage sent chills down his spine.
Liu Fugui gently removed the blindfold from Liu Yunpeng’s face, took out the towel from his mouth, and with light restored and freedom regained, Liu Yunpeng first took deep breaths and then, his eyes failing him, began to shed tears, crying out repeatedly, "Dad, Dad, you’ve finally come!"
Crack, that’s the sound of heartbreak, indeed. Liu Fugui looked at the terrified expressiveness on Liu Yunpeng’s face, the pain in his heart uncontrollably erupting.
He had seen similar expressions many times, but mostly from enemies or unruly guys. The fate of those people seemed like insignificant ants to him at the time. Yet, when it happens to his son, he can truly empathize with their feelings.
Brief heartache quickly replaced by anger, those guys actually treated his son so brutally. Liu Fugui wanted nothing more than to tear them apart immediately.
But sanity ultimately triumphed over emotions. Having experienced much, Liu Fugui knew well that blind rage may let one disregard life and death, but it cannot solve the fundamental issue.
At least, revenge is not something that can be achieved merely with senseless fury. As the saying goes, keeping the green hills intact is essential for not worrying about wood supplies. Hardly a wise move to clash head-on here and now.
Thus, Liu Fugui did not act impulsively; he wisely chose to leave. After soothing Liu Yunpeng in his arms, he turned to walk outside. Yet, before he’d walked two steps, someone blocked his path.
"Spring Xiu!" Liu Fugui could tolerate, but that didn’t mean he tacitly accepted the unforgivable things done to his son. Hence those two words, "Spring Xiu," squeezed out from the corners of his eyes, speaking volumes of his resentment.
Spring Xiu clearly hadn’t anticipated Liu Fugui’s reaction to be so intense, caught off guard by the erupting aura, stunned for about ten seconds before responding, which for a boss like him was undeniably a loss of face.
Spring Xiu cleared his throat, feigning calmness with a smile, "What now? Seeing Liu isn’t too happy, are you dissatisfied with how we treated your son?"
At this moment, Liu Fugui had no mood to waste time on idle talks, with his son now beside him; it’s evident that the past period profoundly traumatized him mentally. Moreover, since this is the opponent’s territory, danger isn’t yet eluded, leaving quickly as the best choice, "The stuff you wanted, all outside, two trainloads, not a piece missing for you."
Liu Fugui’s words carried no emotion, cold enough to give chills.
Spring Xiu, hearing this, made no move, not even instructing subordinates to check outside.
Instead, he persistently engaged Liu Fugui in his angered matter with a smile, "Ah! Liu indeed isn’t happy! Look, Liu, you misunderstood me, Spring Xiu! I actually had good intentions; given the chaotic times, your son ran off without even notifying you, letting you as a parent worry unnecessarily. So, I brazenly considered myself as an educator for your son, didn’t expect to backfire though!"
"Hum!" Liu Fugui snorted coldly, "Thank you for your kind intention, but our Liu Family’s affairs don’t need outsiders meddling. I’ve made a commitment; the stuff you asked for is all outside, we’re even now. If there’s nothing else, excuse me for not staying around."
With that, Liu Fugui ignored whether Spring Xiu agreed or not, slipped past him, supporting his son to leave. Yet, before he’d walked two more steps, he was blocked again.
"What do you mean, Spring Xiu?" Liu Fugui stopped, eyes fixed on the two men obstructing his way, questioning with his head turned towards his back.
Spring Xiu snapped his fingers, signaling the men to lower their obstructive arms, as he slowly approached Liu Fugui’s side, unhurriedly saying, "Liu, why hurry? My chance to interact with a big shot like you is rare; I have many questions to seek your advice on!"
"Haha, Spring Xiu’s flattery! If truly interested, why not visit me another day; we’ll discuss in detail, son’s matters today make it inconvenient, perhaps next time!"
Leaving these words, Liu Fugui continued to step forward, disregarding whether Spring Xiu agreed or not. This time, Spring Xiu wasn’t polite; he reached out to hold the welcome’s shoulder, speaking lowly, "Liu, consultations can await another day, but surely you aren’t leaving so soon, are you!"
Liu Fugui frowned, displeased, "What now? Anything more, Spring Xiu? I mentioned before, what you asked is all outside, you can verify, none missing."(To be continued.
